What’s Available

Following referral, you will be offered a comprehensive telephone assessment to establish eligibility and  to identify your individual needs Together with the assessor you will agree the most appropriate service for you from a range of options.

Self Help
We will help you find the information you need to help you take control of your mental and emotional health. We can point you to lots of information on the internet as well as suggest leaflets and  help lines.

Guided Self Help
The Serenity Computerised Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CCBT) programme is an interactive self help programme which allows you to work through a series of self help modules in your own time. Modules cover topics such as managing your anxiety and depression and relaxation techniques.

After an introductory meeting with a CCBT worker, regular follow up sessions by telephone/e-mail are provided.

Therapeutic Groups
The following Therapeutic groups are provided over 7-8 weekly sessions

  • Coping with Life.
  • Stress Management.
  • Mindfulness

These are educational based courses,  which will be focused on your  recovery. Through these courses you will gain the skills needed to manage your mental health and emotional well being more effectively. Examples of courses include Assertiveness Skills, Managing Anxiety and Dealing with Depression. Mindfulness also includes techniques such as meditation, gentle yoga and mind-body exercises

Individual Therapy
Individual therapy is for you if you want to explore on a one to one basis with a qualified counsellor, any common mental health difficulties, such as mild to moderate anxiety or depression  or any challenging life events, such as bereavement or relationship issues which may be impacting on your emotional well being. You will be offered a Counselling Assessment followed by up to 6 sessions of counselling. Sessions are offered on a weekly basis with each session lasting 50 minutes.

You can refer yourself in confidence to Parabl Talking Therapies for an assessment by phoning 0300 777 2257. Alternatively you may be referred by another professional (e.g. your doctor etc).

Once a referral has been received you will be offered a telephone assessment to establish how best we can meet your individual needs.
