Stress Management Skills – 14-hour course over 7 weeks

This Stress Management Skills course is delivered for the Parabl Partnership by Flintshire Mind – Flintshire Mind’s Stress Management Skills course is designed to help people understand and manage stresses in their life. It’s aimed at people struggling with stress and anxiety and is based on proven Cognitive Behavioural Techniques. It’s informal, free and run in community venues throughout Flintshire and Wrexham.

How to break the vicious cycle of stressful thinking using proven Cognitive Behavioural Techniques
Practical ideas and tools to manage stress
Simple relaxation techniques
How sleep, diet and exercise can help

Who’s the course for?
The course is for you if you’re 18 or over, living in Flintshire or Wrexham, are stressed or anxious and have been referred to the course by the Parabl Talking Therapy Partnership after a telephone assessment.

Duration
Courses run throughout the year. Each course lasts for seven weeks and each session is two hours long. Sessions are held in the early evening, usually 6pm to 8pm.

Where is it held?
Courses are held at community venues around Flintshire and Wrexham, including Connah’s Quay, Flint, Gwersyllt, Holywell, Mold, Ruabon and Wrexham. All our venues are easy to find, close to parking and public transport and fully accessible for disabled people.

Induction and Feedback
At the first session you’ll be given a short presentation telling you all about the course, followed by a one to one consultation with one of our therapist/trainers. You’ll be asked to fill in a short questionnaire at the first session and again towards the end of the course which will help us give you individual feedback and make sure the course makes a real difference to your life.
What are the results?

Overwhelmingly participants say they feel better able to handle stresses in their life after taking the course. Our careful monitoring of each person shows that this is backed up by evidence of real and quantifiable improvement. On previous courses run during 2012/13:

83% of participants said that as a result of the course they felt better able to deal with the challenges that faced them in their lives
89% of participants showed measurable improvement in their symptoms after the course
97% of participants said that they’d recommend the course to others

Staff qualifications and experience
The Stress Management course is delivered by Flintshire Mind, the experts in mental health. All our facilitators are therapists in their own right and are all members of the British Asso-ciation for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), as well as being experienced trainers.
